Low Risk Engagement
Outsourcing complex technology projects entail two risks - the 'technology risk' of whether the solution is feasible and if the promised benefits will outweigh the cost; and the 'outsourcing risk' of whether it is a better strategy than in-house development.

“Reducing Technology Risk”- A four-stage project model
Complex technology projects are big decisions. Before you commit to a new platform or technology, you need to validate feasibility and assess if the new architecture provides better customer benefits. Aditi makes this process safer through a four-step approach that lets you break the task into smaller steps and assess evidence before committing to the project.

Technology Evaluation: By the end of this session, you will have clarity on the different technology options, their relative pros and cons, and the reason for the proposed new technology. This is usually a one-day complimentary session conducted by an Aditi architect experienced in the technology area.

Architecture Design Session (ADS): By the end of this session, you will have an outline of the new product architecture and how it translates into better user benefits. This is usually a two- to three-day session where an Aditi team works with your chief technology officer, architects, and development team to provide architectural guidance, best-practices input, and risk analysis guidance to define and clarify a vision and product roadmap.

Proof of Concept: At the end of this phase, you will see pilot project evidence, if the architecture arrived at during the ADS phase is feasible. In a period of four weeks, Aditi will create a prototype that demonstrates limited functionality on the new architecture, serving to validate user benefits and the architecture approach. At the end of this phase, Aditi will also provide an estimate and schedule for the project.

Project Implementation: With the architecture and proof of concept behind you, you can now decide whether to implement the project. And, having worked with the Aditi team for a few weeks, you can also assess if the Aditi team has the competence to deliver, or if you are better off executing the project in-house.

“Reducing Outsourcing Risk” - Choice of operating models
What outsourcing model you choose has a bearing on the success of the project. If your requirements are well-defined, a fixed price turnkey model would work for you. If your product is still being defined and will evolve through the development phase, an Offshore Development Center (ODC) with a team on a retainer is a better option. If your goal is to eventually build your own subsidiary in India, a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model is worth considering.

What model is right for you depends on your reasons for outsourcing and your long-term goals. Aditi provides you with different operating option, and also helps you understand where to start and how to transition. For instance, many of our customers start with a low-risk fixed price project to see if outsourcing works for them. As they gain confidence, they transition to high-complexity projects on retainer based ODC teams.

Each Offshore Development Center (ODC) option has different benefits in terms of cost leverage, and tradeoffs in terms of setup time and ownership.

Aditi Managed ODC: Perfect for startups or new product efforts, this option offers minimum setup time with complete responsibility taken by Aditi to deliver your products. The ODC team works closely with your sales, product management, and marketing teams to deliver products according to market requirements, on time.

Client Managed ODC: Most common among established companies for their existing products, the ODC in this model serves as an extension to your onshore team. While Aditi manages day-to-day operations, you control the team directly and take responsibility for its delivery.

Managed Subsidiary: Suitable for companies thinking of starting their own subsidiary, but are concerned about the initial setup and attracting quality people. Aditi sets up the subsidiary on your behalf and provides infrastructure services including recruitment, leveraging Aditi’s presence in top academic campuses and key recruitment channels.

BOT Option: The Build-Operate-Transfer option can be added to any of the above three models to convert the ODC into a fully owned subsidiary at any point in time.
